Broadleaf weed control often referred to as “Weed & Feed,” Is utilized to prevent and eliminate broadleaf weeds in spring while giving another application of nitrogen or “feed” in the process.
Later in the spring, some weeds have likely appeared, especially broad-leaf weeds such as dandelions. The best weed and feed for a late-spring application is one that has a post-emergent herbicide that will fall on the weed leaves and kill them.
Application time for the weed and feed product is in May when the soil temperatures have been warm enough for the broadleaf weeds to start growing. Applications before this time may not be effective. There are also additional “spray on” applications available for spot treatments throughout the year or in “heavily weeded” areas.
